Ashish Kasodekar launches Low2High

Mar 30, 2024

Starting from the lowest point in mainland India, Ashish will embark on a remarkable journey, running 4000 km to reach the highest motorable road in the world. The campaign will run from June 1st to August 15th, culminating on India’s Independence Day. Organized by Pune-based Simple Steps Fitness, the mission aims to foster community participation, with a collective target of recording 76 lakh km (7,600,000 km) over 76 days, symbolizing India’s 76th year of independence. Industry leaders Losma India and Baudouin India have pledged their support to this noble cause and urge other companies to promote fitness and well-being among their workforce.

Ashish Kasodekar, a renowned ultra-runner and Guinness Record holder will lead the race. Having completed remarkable feats such as running 60 marathons in 60 days and conquering the world’s cruelest marathon, La Ultra, Ashish is no stranger to pushing his limits. He will commence his awe-inspiring run from Kuttanad, Kerala, the lowest point in mainland India, and traverse 10 states before reaching the pinnacle of Umling La, Ladakh, covering a total distance of 4000 km.

“The purpose of this campaign is to inspire individuals along the way, spreading awareness and encouraging them to embark on their paths of fitness and well-being. We aim to achieve a cumulative target of 76 lakh km and appeal to people of all age groups, including fitness groups, corporates, alumni groups, and social groups, to run, walk, cycle, or hike and join this movement,” said Ashish Kasodekar during a media interaction.

Individuals can participate in their preferred activity (run, walk, cycle, hike) in their locality and register for free on the official website, www.low2high.in. The campaign organizers are actively collaborating with various fitness groups across India and anticipate the participation of over 20,000 runners, walkers, hikers, and 2000 cyclists in the 76 Lakh Km Mission.

During the launch, Vrushal Phadnis, Director of Losma India, stated, “This campaign aims to encourage people to join the fitness movement, set and track personal challenges, and provide free registration and tracking to participants. We also plan to establish online leaderboards to foster a sense of healthy competition.” The event will kick off on June 1st from Kuttanad, Kerala, and Ashish Kasodekar will embark on his remarkable journey across major cities, including Kochi, Dharwad – Hubli, Pune – Mumbai, Surat – Ahmedabad, Udaipur – Jaipur, Gurugram, and Manali, before reaching the finish line at Umling La, Ladakh, on August 15th.
